Physics Building & Osmond Lab Renovation

Image
Physics Building Renovation Rendering

Status: Under Construction

Target Completion: September 2026

Location: Penn State University Park

Design: ZGF Architects LLP

Construction: Barton Malow

This project will strengthen the Physics Department’s research capabilities while addressing some deferred maintenance needs in the Osmond Building. Key features include new state-of-the-art research labs, a high-bay research facility for large-scale instrument assembly and testing, collaborative spaces, renovated lecture halls, and an updated courtyard.

The high-bay facility will support work on balloons, rockets, satellite payloads, and deep-underground experiments, enhancing the department’s research impact and attracting major interdisciplinary projects to Penn State. The project also includes a regional stormwater management structure to improve runoff control.

Learn more about the project by visiting the Penn State Eberly College of Science website.
